Dr. Richard C. Cooper has been Executive Vice President – Research and Development of TransGenRx since November 2003 and a Director of the company since 2001. Since 1991, Dr. Cooper has been a Professor at Louisiana State University, where he holds a joint appointment to the LSU Agricultural Center (LSU AgCenter) and the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Cooper received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi College in 1985, a Master of Science degree from Mississippi State University in 1988 and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in 1991. His research has focused on DNA delivery and protein expression in transgenic animals and applications cell culture for the purpose of pharmaceutical protein expression. Dr. Cooper has eight issued patents and 15 pending applications on stable DNA integration, transgenic animal production and protein expression.
William C. Fioretti was a co-founder of TransGenRx and has been a Director and President of the company since November 2003. He became Chief Executive Officer of the company in July 2004. Mr. Fioretti also has been Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Agritech Technologies Ltd. since 1991 and Chairman of the Board of NanoMatrix Inc. since 2001; each of such companies is a privately owned biotech company. Mr. Fioretti was a founder of Mannatech™ Incorporated, a publicly traded nutritional supplement company, and served as its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Science Officer from 1994 to 1998. Mr. Fioretti received a Bachelor of Science (cum laude) from Appalachian State University in 1974; he did graduate work in biochemistry at the Medical University of South Carolina from 1974 to 1978 and engaged in postgraduate studies at the University of Florida from 1978 to 1980.
John Gallagher has been a Director of TransGenRx since September 2004, Secretary of the company since August 2005 and the company’s Corporate Counsel since November 2005. Mr. Gallagher, an attorney, has served since 2002 as general counsel to Genendo Pharmaceutical, N.V., a company engaged in the business of buying and selling pharmaceuticals in the international market. From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Gallagher served as Co-Chairman and Co-President of European Micro Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded distributor of microcomputer products. Mr. Gallagher received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976 and a Juris Doctorate degree in 1978 from the University of Florida.
Dr. Philippe Tremml has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TGRx. In this position, he will be instrumental in the development and commercialization of TGRx’s global biosimilar business. Dr. Tremml is General Manager of Biologicals International, a consulting company dedicated to the development and commercialization of biosimilars and biologicals. He founded the company in 2003 and is author of the first ground-breaking report on biosimilars issued by SCRIP Reports in 2004 (“Biogenerics, a sustainable business model?”). In his role as a consultant, Dr. Tremml has been committed to a vast variety of projects, including biosimilar product appraisals, international biosimilar and biological product licensing, analytical and strategic consultancy and M&A. A major engagement was with U.S biopharmaceutical firm Cephalon, where he was tasked with restructuring and establishing affiliates for future strategic corporate objectives. He also advised Cephalon on an acquisition project. Dr. Tremml began his career with marketing positions at Novartis and Wyeth, followed by a senior position at Amgen in the International Business Analysis and Strategic Planning Group. Before founding his own consulting company, he served as Global Head of Business Development and Marketing for BioPartners, an international biosimilar and biologicals development company. Dr. Tremml graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Zurich. He continuously educates himself and successfully completed studies at the Management Institute of St. Gallen (SGMI) on financial management, controlling and company valuation for executives.
Victor Filatov became the President of Capula Investment Management in London in January 2008. Before joining Capula he was a founding partner and chairman of TrinityCapM Ltd, a quantitative investment management firm based in London. Prior to the establishment of Trinity in 2003, he was a managing member of SMN Advisors LLC, a quantitative investment advisory firm. Victor left Capula in November 2008 to pursue other interests in trading and advisory work. Victor has more than 25 years of experience in asset management and investment banking covering fixed income trading and research, portfolio management in fixed income and equities, portfolio optimization and design, business development and overall business management. Prior to TrinityCapM and SMN Advisors, Filatov worked for Citigroup as the Chief Operating Officer for the Institutional Business of Citigroup Asset Management from 1999 to 2001 and was a member of the Executive Committee. In 2001, he became the Head of Investment Management for CEEMEA and a member of the European Management Committee, based in London; he was also the Head of Corporate Development. In his capacity as Head of Investment Management for CEEMEA, he was also the CEO and CIO for SAMBA Capital Management in London through a joint venture with SAMBA Bank. From 1993 until 1999, he was President and CIO of Smith Barney Global Capital Management, until the merger between Travelers and Citibank in 1999. After Travelers’ acquisition of Salomon Brothers, he became Co-head of Salomon Smith Barney Asset Management – Europe. As a fixed income researcher and trader, Victor Filatov was Head of Market Strategies Research and the founder and Head of the Fixed Income Index Derivatives Group at JPMorgan Securities. He was also a member of JP Morgan’s Derivatives Risk Management Committee from 1991 to 1993. Prior to moving to London in 1991, he was Head of the Bond Index Group at JP Morgan Securities, where he led the creation of the family of JP Morgan Government Bond Indices in the late 1980s.He holds a BA in mathematics and economics and an MA in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He has completed all course work for his Ph.D. in economics.
